Chatham Massachusetts was incorporated in 1712, the quaint sea side village is located at the southeastern tip of Cape Cod. The town consists of four villages. Originally populated by the Native American tribe of the Monomoyicks. William Nickerson, an English colonist, made the first land purchase from Sachem Mattaquason of the Monomiyicks which consisted almost all of Chatham. Fishing had been the towns primary industry. In the late 1800’s however, Chatham began to become a popular vacation destination for wealthy clientele which helped to grow and sustain its economy. The town remains a popular destination for vacationers, retirees and year round residents. Its beautiful harbors, Stage Harbor & Chatham Harbor and gorgeous beaches along with it’s popular Main Street make Chatham one of Cape Cod’s treasured towns.
